Moving along

After some wonderful advice and some venting and ranting and fun here, I feel a bit better about my last post. Nothing has changed but I'm ready to deal with it differently. So moving along...
Help me pick songs for the iPod. I have a balance of $36 and some change on iTunes. Give me YOUR essentials. My musical tastes are very ecclectic so throw me your ideas. I like everything from country to rock and most in between. Here are a couple of artists from a couple of different genres that I already have downloaded to give you an idea.
Justin Timberlake
Eminem
Edie Brickell
Natalie Merchant
Guns n Roses
Keith Anderson
Nickelback
Kenny Chesney
Sugarland
John Denver
Dolly Parton
Michael Jackson
Jack Johnson
Collective Soul
INXS
Missy Elliott
Dixie chicks
Billy Squier
Billy Joel
Cher
Fleetwood Mac
Queen Latifah
Hmmmm, I think I need some updated current stuff. Give me the scoop. What do I absolutely need to add to my iPod?

I'm afraid I am the wrong person to ask about that kind of stuff, because I stopped learning about new music about five years ago, but I wanted to come in and say hi anyway.

Oh! What about Paul Simon? Graceland is a great album, and I like Rhythm of the Saints, too.

*smooch*

I am not a fan of Paul Simon. I've never liked him.
I will check out Rhythm of the Saints though.
Monsty said you were drunk. Are you still drunk?

If it was me, I would have some Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I would also add Regina Spektor.

11/28/2006 6:12 PM
Blogger arkie said...

And Barry Manilow. You can't go wrong with Barry.

11/28/2006 6:12 PM
Blogger Bravie said...

I do have some Foo Fighters on there as well as Nirvana.
I forgot about RHCP. Good one.

Um, as for Barry? I already have John Denver. I don't think I can have both and still carry a "cool kid" card. Can I? I have Bette Midler and Barry used to play piano for her. Does that count?

11/28/2006 6:17 PM
Blogger arkie said...

Well, if anyone *could* carry off having John Denver and Barry Manilow, and still be cool, it would be you. But it would be pushing it. *grin*

I don't know current, unless it's country and you've covered all of the bases, except there is one song you need. Love You by Jack Ingram.

However, if you'd like some not so current music, I'd be glad to tell you all kinds of bands I love.

I love when Arkie kisses my ass. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

I can't do love songs, Momma. Just can not. But I am interested in your list, please.

*runs off to download Barry and hopes nobody notices*

Okay, Michelle just got home so I'll have to come back later. And I promise I'll check out the song. But if it's a love song and makes me cry, I will be very mad at you. :)

I didn't see Air Supply or Taylor Hicks listed or Chris Daughtry or that Ryan guy Glowie likes so much.

I also have 2 Mary J. Blige songs on mine: Family Affair and Real Love.

11/29/2006 5:20 AM
Blogger Bravie said...

Of course I have Keith, Augie. Silly girl.
I have that CD, Breezy.
Oooh, I love Mary J. I have Family Affair downloaded already.
I have Joss Stone and I don't like Dave Matthews.
I didn't really so much care for Daughtry's new album. It all seemed very manufactured and I expected more from him.

11/29/2006 5:26 AM
Blogger arkie said...

I hadn't checked out Daughtery's album. So, is it as big of a disappoinment as Bo's was?

11/29/2006 5:32 AM
Blogger Bravie said...

IMHO, yes, Arkie. His vocals are nice and all but the songs are too generic. Nothing jumped out at me.

We don't really have the same taste in music, but I would recommend the song Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap. You've probably heard it before (they use it on a lot of soundtracks and tv shows, it seems). It has a very cool sound to it.

Updated stuff:

Augies Band (AKA Snow Patrol)

I would only recommend old Killers stuff. I'm not very impressed with the new cd. :( Maybe I just need to give it a few more listens.

oooooh yes Snow Patrol! Snow Patrol!

I like Shinedown, too.

Well, I would have Janis-One Night Stand, Jimi-any, Barbra-any, Lennon-Imagine.

I also despise Paul Simon.

Zombs - YOU KNOW Shuggie Otis - wow. One awesome dude he is.

Oh, and IMHO there is no better music to make love to than the Isley Brothers.

And some old Oakland tunes - Tower of Power!

I told Shawn I want an iPod. Kind of an unrealistic request right now considering all there is to be considered. However, I am spoiled so there is a chance. Anyhoo... do you think it would upset him if I said, "Thanks for the RyPod?"

11/29/2006 11:49 AM
Blogger Glowie said...

That should, of course, say "RyPod"?

I'm sorry Nookie, no Celine. But I do have "That's what friends are for"

I don't know which one, Glowie. I don't know the names of the songs. But I like the album that you sent Michelle and will copy some of that on there. Sorry, I'm not a Ryan fan and don't really care for his stuff.

Ok. What about Jewel?

oh yes! I forgot I copied that for my woman. Cool beans. I love "Echelon" A LOT. :-) Oh wait. if I only copied one CD for her, it was probably A Beautiful Lie. "Echelon" is not on that one. Did I maybe copy both?

You are just bitter towards Ryan. Poor Ryan.

Oh, and since Breezy mentioned AI, I was watching a re-run from last season (I never get to watch it DURING the season). I'm sorry, but who let Elliot on that show?

I was reminded how beautiful and confident Katherine McPhee is.

Blogger Bravie said...

Nookie? I love you. Stop suggesting music. Just show up and smile and look pretty like you do so well. *grin*

No to Shakira.
I love Katharine but not so much her music.

Yes, Glow, I believe I have some Ryan resentment issues.
I'm not sure which CD you sent. It may have been both but I'm not sure.

Boy you people sure do talk about a lot of music I have never heard of.

May I suggest Ombra Mai Fu by Handel, Habanera by Bizet, or Clare de Lune - Debussy.

Failing that some nice Loreena McKennitt. I am particularly fond of her versions of Greensleeves and The Lady of Shalott.

You're not alone Swami. I haven't heard of many of these suggestions either. Well except for the country stuff.

Blue Rodeo Carey! You gotta have some Blue Rodeo. Bulletproof if my favorite but I love most of their stuff. I'm a Cuddy slut.
