smooches for my kitty

Just because I don't have enough stress in my life right now. *rolls eyes*
Today my oldest cat, Shug, has to have surgery to remove a cyst from her cheek. I know the doctor says that she will be fine and he isn't concerned about doing this at her age. But that still does not make me worry any less. I'm not going to say how old she is because I don't want anyone gasping and making comments about whether or not this is a good idea. The doctor suggested it so we have to do it. *sigh*
I have been giving her extra smooches and hugs this morning. *pout* I skeert. *sigh*

I think it's a good idea to get her purring before she goes in. It's a good way to remind her about the special mommies she gets to come home to.

Heh, I felt so loved this morning by all 3 cats. We had to pick up the food and water at 9pm last night because Shug can't have anything in her stomach. Rather than lock her in a room, we just picked up food and water so that none of them got anything. The were hovering all over the place at my feet this morning begging.
My ShuggyBear was cuddling in my lap and purring like crazy this morning. She got a super duper big hug as I walked out the door. *sigh* If she doesn't come through this I'm going to be a complete and total mess. This was my first cat. Michelle's too. Michelle actually got her 3 1/2 years prior to us getting together.

Didn't you have to have something done with her and a cyst not too long ago?

*hugs* for you and *kittysmooches* for Shug.

Aw, shug! Will she be able to eat very well after the surgery? I imagine her face will hurt. Poor kitty. But it is for the best. She needs it to feel better.

You are good kitty parents.

She should be able to eat after. We have had this cyst drained twice and she was perfectly fine afterwards. We were worse off than she was. Unfortunately, draining it isn't enough because it fills back up within the same day. the Vet said that it will either be draining it every single day or surgery to remove it and he suggests surgery. he knows her history. He has been her vet for 10 years. so I can't imagine that he would suggest this if he thought it would be unhealthy for her. But still...there is always a bigger risk when they are so old.
She's a feisty old fart. It isn't as if she is this old and decaying cat. She eats, drinks, runs, yells, jumps. She is deaf but otherwise in good health. I still can't help but worry though.

Shug will be fine, Bravie. Maybe the vet can do it with local anesthetics which should be way easier on her.

I sure hope they call with a post-op report soon! How long will the vet keep her?

I had hoped that it would just be a local, too. But the fact that they instructed us not to let her eat or drink suggests it's not a local.
I'm not sure what time the surgery is. Michelle is bringing her to the vet in about an hour.
She doesn't give me much info or details because I can't handle it. So she just told me yesterday that the surgery was today. this is just how we have to do things with me when it comes to our babies.

No update on Shug yet. I'm going with the thought that no new is good news. Michelle is going there in about a half hour so I should know then.
Thank you everybody. *smooch*
