WDPD? (What did Pam do)

I wanted to get through the weekend before saying anything. But after getting through a party on Saturday night, some stress on Sunday and a family gathering on Sunday, I feel that I can now be confident in saying that finally after 28 years, I am a non smoker.
Pam directed me towards a book that helped her and her DH become non smokers. So far it's worked wonders for me. I still get the cravings for a smoke but I do what the book tells me to do and it helps me get through it. After going this long without a smoke I would probably get so dizzy if I took a hit that I would either pass out or throw up, LOL, so there would be no good point in ever smoking again. Yippee, I am a non smoker.
This is the first time that I have attempted to stop smoking for me. In the past it was always for someone else. I think that helps to make a huge difference in being successful. Like I said, I still get cravings but I am able to talk myself out of them and at the end of the day, I can pat myself on the back for not smoking. :)

I was pretty sure this was what the last post was about! Woohoo! Dusterboy and I are very excited for you! He's still smoke-free since November 26th. :D

Dave wants to know what book you read. I remember Pam talking about this before.

I'm very proud of you and Dave. Very soon it will be my turn to get on the bandwagon. *grin*

YAY!!! Whooooopppiiiieeee!!!! So proud of you! You will be soooooo happy not being a slave to the smokes. It is such a freeing decision.

I used to risk being late for work because I had to stop and get some. How effed up is that? I love, love, love NOT smoking. Really. I get an odd craving every great while but when I actually think it out about having one, it's just not appealing. AT ALL. Hang in there. It's totally worth it, on about a million different fronts.

Three cheers for the smoke-free Bravie!!!

What are you going to do with all your extra money? Whenever I go on diet the first thing I always do is buy a hard cover book I want, because I'm saving soooo much money on food, lol.

That is fantastic news Bravie! Did you read the Allen Carr book? My aunt gave me the book but I haven't read it because I quit with patches. I'm thinking of reading it just out of curiosity. Her friend quit smoking after reading it.

Thanks, all. I can not say that it has been completely easy but I will say that it has not been nearly as bad as I was anticipating. I still have triggers that make me think that I want to smoke. Like sitting in front of my laptop? Yikes, I always had a smoke.
Yes, Nookie, it is Alan Carr's book.
Lights, it's called The Easyway to quit smoking.
Hmmmmm, I haven't figured out what to do with my extra money yet. :)

Way to go Bravie! I'll echo the proud of you comments. Quitting smoking is tough.

Oh, and nothing worth having is easy. Except maybe Breezy.

Congratulations! Not easy but worth it - I'm smoke free since March 2000.

Don't get freaked out by the smoking dreams - they're weird because you wake up tasting cigs in your mouth and smelling it in your nostrils.

My mom put down the pack last Chrsitmas after being diagnosed with cancer of the little hangey thingy at the back of the throat. She is in fine form now and remain smoke-free *knock wood*

She took that money and makes a monthly donation to the cancer society.

Congratulations, Bravie! My cousin quit over a year ago after trying and trying for the wrong reasons...she finally got it and stuck to it when she did it for herself and she says she's never felt better. I'm thrilled you took this step.

Thank you Pam!

I am so proud of you!!!

I tried that book. Read it cover to cover twice (Pam posted about it over there once or twice). I have to say... it didn't work for me. :(

I don't know what happened. The book kept telling me to read the whole thing before I quit. I should've quit halfway through like I wanted to. I'm sure I'll try it again one day.

...but, again, HUGE congrats to you!!!

I bought that book for my mom for Christmas!! Yes, based on Pam and Brownroach (? I think) talking about it on OT. I read the first 9 chapters over her house last week, but I guess I'll have to wait until she's done with it to read the rest. I hope to become a non-smoker too. :)

Congrats, Carey! We're all so proud and happy for you.

*swalt* (Hey, that tastes better. *grin*)

Congrats! I, on the other hand, am not doing as well. The realization that I've smoke for 35 years is sobering.

Hi everybody! Happy New Year
