It's interesting because I get all the monster postings sent to my email, as I like to keep track of what is out there. I get a job every week or so for my specific qualifications.
Meanwhile, two people in my lab are job hunting for after after graduation and none of the jobs they interview for are coming through Monster.
Despite the glories of internet, I still think it's more important to talk to real live people.
P.S. One guy is lab is consulting a tiny bit. Man, does he make a tonne of money at that.
For the very near future, Zombs. I want to give my notice the day after Christmas but Michelle and my Mom are really pushing for me to wait until I have another job. Which I know is the smart thing to do. I just don't know how much longer I can control my mouth and temper here.
I've been looking at Monster, HotJobs, Jobs.com and a couple of others. Even one that is job specific for the entire country. Unfortunately nothing is going on in my area. I'm sorta screwed because there have been a couple that I have been 100% qualified for excpet for the fact that I don't have a 2 year degree. I really don't want to go back to Process serving. I'm just getting too old to having to run from people in the projects anymore. *sigh* I guess after the first I may have to resort to hitting the pavement like Bob said.
I've done the whole quit a job before I have another job 2 times. One time it worked out. I never would have looked for another job unless I had quit. The second time? Well I'm still unemployed :)
Try craigslist.com too. There are sometimes "out of the box" jobs there. I check there daily.
I've been checking craigslist on a daily basis too. I have done the quit before another job before. But I was young and didn't have a mortgage. I really sort of have to go with what Michelle says at this point because if I become unemployed, she will be the one supporting me. It just sucks because this job, up until a few months ago, was my absolute dream job. In a realistic world. Because my ultimate dream job would be sex slave for Angie and Brad. And I think we can all agree that that's not gonna happen.
Listen, I just had to scrape some burnt toast and yet AGAIN, I found myself thinking, I really need to find some help to do the scraping for me. You interested?
Well, in the dream, I refused to sit and watch a movie with you two until someone got the snake out. Breezy waited until it brought it's head all the way up to her's (which is at least 3 feet high, right??) and then she grabbed it and I asked her to take it far away from the house. You were both irked with me for being afraid of the snake. I felt like such a party pooper. :(
I'm not really afraid of snakes. But had it been a spider? Oh goodness on earth I would have died. And I think 3 feet is pretty generous of you. Have you ever met Breezy? She is a tiny little woman. *snort*
When my job was advertised in the paper I saw it and didn't apply because they said they wanted someone with college or university, of which I have neither.
They asked me during my interview why I hadn't applied for it and I told them it was because of the educational requirements. They said that they put that on all their job descriptions but I'm proof that it isn't always a deal breaker.
Go for it Boo and Carey. The worst they can say is no.
Breezy, you may be too petite to work. I'd check with a chiropractor. *grin*
The only online sites that have worked for me and actually generated interviews have been our newspaper's online classified section and craigslist. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear. I have also had some (albeit, minimal) luck with company websites that post their open positions that are in our area.
And, I agree with the others who say to submit your resume even if you don't have the "required" education. Most of the time, that's just so they can determine if the younger crowd has staying power.
I agree that you should apply for some that have educational requirements. Either call & ask about how firm they are on that...or just send a cover letter explaining how your experience outvalues the degree (although don't seem like you don't respect education).

*sits and waits for help too*
Did you quit? Or is this for the future?
Nope, not at all. Did not work in the least.

BTW, I found this job by tromping the floors of university and dropping off application packets (with job specific cover letters)

Well, have you sent them your application? You never know until you apply :-)
Good luck!
I'm just concerned that their idea of benefits and Michelle's idea of benefits probably are not the same. :P
You don't get paid for being POTI?
PS So is the owner staying put?
Listen, I just had to scrape some burnt toast and yet AGAIN, I found myself thinking, I really need to find some help to do the scraping for me. You interested?
I'm still waiting on my POTI check. *stares at Monsty and Coco*
We still have no word. But she was overheard on the phone saying that she is reconsidering what was going on.
Oh yes, I am very much interested. Do I need to send my resume or are you pretty confident in my abilities?
Let me know if they work too. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I had a dream about you and Breezy and a snake. Breezy got rid of the snake but then you had to take her home and I was alone. :(
I've had that dream but it had much different results. *grin*
*snort* I'm a snake charmer.
wait.... that didn't come out right.
LOL. Give up while you're ahead. I mean while, oh nevermind.
I don't have any advice, so I offer *hugs* and *good thoughts* instead.
*swalt*

You two are on the naughty list, I've contacted Santa.
Well seeing as how you are an elf, you probably have pretty easy access to Santa.
So this is where all the fun people are!
Who knew?
You can have one of my jobs Carey.
The uniform is ugly but at least the pay sucks!
( Good luck with the search, Honey)
YAY!!!! I alwasy love a Buggy sighting. *smooch*

If you gals are gonna be around later, I wanna come play!
I just have to go shopping first.
Oh, and Breezy?
Is my favorite this week!
Hey!!!! I want to be your favorite. Hrmph.
*big grin*
*thud*
I'm Buggy's favorite.
I saw one on Monster recently that looked really good, and I really wanted to apply, but I couldn't yet.
Does the ad say college "required" or "preferred"? I would say if it's not required to go for it and show 'em what ya got. Tell him how you roll.
This particular one said "required". *pout*

I think POTI Mouth is an excellent job title.
(No help on the job front. I get all mine by speaking English in the grocery store.)
LMAO *snort*

I knew you would laugh at that. And of course you are the only one who has any clue what is so damn funny. *snort*

That will only make sense if you've read my blog.
