A Tale of two horses

So you're at the horse races and there are two horses that you can bet on.

Commanding the first horse will be a jockey who is well known and a proven winner. But the horse has had some problems. With the guidance of the jockey, this horse could possibly end up being a Seasbiscuit type horse. But of course there are no guarantees. Being a favorite, if this horse wins, you will definitely win something, enough to make you happy but probably not enough to retire. Yet.

Commanding the second horse will be a jockey who is unknown. The horse is also an unknown but has the potential of winning the race. But there really isn't much known about this horse or this jockey. But because it is a long shot, there is the potential for great winnings if you were to bet on him. If you do bet on him though, you will never be allowed to bet on the other horse that is a proven winner in the past.

Which horse are you more likely to bet on?

As much as I'd want to take the risky horse, I'd be thinking of reasonably content security for myself and for Chris. My decision would impact both of us. I know the risky bet wouldn't be worth it to him.

And it doesn't really matter what we'd do. :-)

*smooch* I know it doesn't matter. Well it matters but it would have no bearing on what I would do. I may be a riskier gambler than some and not as risky as others.
For instance, Michelle is a MUCH riskier gambler than I am. You should see her when she plays Deal or No Deal. We yell at each other all of the time when we watch that show and have decided that if either of us ever tried out and got on the show, that the other would not be allowed in the studio. *snort*

I'd bet on the unknown horse/jockey. But that's just me. I like to take chances like that.

I'd probably take the more secured route. I may not win big, but I won't lose big either.

This isn't about horse racing is it?

If I'm betting on horses, I'm betting with money I can afford to lose and I'd take the riskier one. If I'm betting the house payment, I'd go with the more sure bet.

Are one of the horses in the 2 or 7 position? 'Cause that's my usual horse bet, the 2-7.

I agree with MTW about this one. But also because of where I am in my life at this time.

Seven years ago, I took the riskier one - it paid off for a while, but now I'm looking again.

I am wishy washy and play it safe most of the time. However, change and risk can be a good thing.

This is one of them there metaphor thingys, ain't it?

I'm not a risk taker, so I would go with the "jockey" who has proven himself.

I wouldn't bet on either, and would take my money to the bar so I could enjoy a drink while I watched the race.

We went to Colonial Downs 4 summers ago with some friends. Dwight and I lost on every bet we made. What pissed me off was while we were waiting for the next local race to start, we were watching the tvs of other races. Somewhere a race was about to start with horse named Luna in it! It was too late for me to go place a bet though.

Luna won, of course.

Normally, I would swear up and down that I would go with the safe and secure horse. In fact, that what I thought when I read your post. The safe one of course!!

That's when I realized that right now? In my own life? I am practically the jockey on the second unknown horse. *shudder*

If this was really about betting on horses, I'd hedge my bets, and place money on both of them. But that's because I like to cover all bases.

But you gotta admit, it is funny. And hey! I am the first person to make a sig pic other than a game-type that Estee used. *That's* an accomplishment.

Soda on monitor due to Kimmah.

It will take me approximately 2 weeks to decide. I'll let you know when I weigh the problem a gazillion times.

Oooh I know. I will be insightful.

Push the Jockey off either horse and get on yourself.

That way we can tell you to get off your high horse.
