Allow me to brag for a moment

My brother just called me to tell me that finally, at the age of 35, everything he has been working for is coming true.
He is a biochemist and is currently working under a grant program at Harvard. The little brain has a BA from UC Davis and a PhD from Stanford. He then went to work for UCSF and then at Harvard.
Well, he applied to be an assistant professor at Villa Nova in Philadelphia and he just got the call that he has been offered the job. So he gets to be an assistant for a couple of years and then he is on his way to being a full time professor.
*big proud smile for my brother*

Okay, carry on.

Oh, big congrats for him! That is not easy at all.

Now he only needs another 5 years of sleepless, mindknumbing research before tenure.

Congrats to the little brainiac. Breaking into Academia is never easy, but it is a great place to be.

Congrats to your brother!

I'm in Philly about once a month. Does your brother like to go drinking...?

Thanks everybody. I'm pretty proud of the little dork.

HD, yes, he does like to go out drinking. He is a little more on the tame side than I am when it comes to partying but once he gets there and is all settled in, you two should get together and party.

A future conversation between Carey and her brother:

Carey: Hey! One of my online friends wants to hang out with you sometime. He has his own sheep!

Um, Don't mention the silly tenure thing to him. Let him enjoy his last few breaths of free air.

Yay for our brother! I think it is wonderful. Too bad he never met up with Iggy and Bob.

The next conversation after that -

Carey: You didn't let me finish! It's not a real sheep, it just looks like one.

Congrats to your brother! I guess being a brainiac runs in the family.

(Couldn't let the suck-up opportunity go by.)
