Update on my Booboo Baby

So Michelle just picked her up from the vet. Everything is okay. Whew. *deep sigh of relief*

Again, thank you for all of the nice words. It did help.

*giggle* Michelle did get a lecture from the vet. He said that now that she is older (the cat, not Michelle) that we need to keep a better eye on these things. He said that it will take two of us to clip her nails because she is a spawn of the devil. He suggested that we just bring her in to him. It only cost $15 and is well worth it. He said that it even took two of them to hold her down.
No surgery, no sedation, no booties and no antibiotics. She will just heal naturally.

She was screaming like a demon when Michelle walked in but as soon as she heard Michelle's voice she stopped yelling. Michelle put her finger in the carrier and Shug put her nose on Michelle's finger and rubbed it and then immediately calmed down and she hasn't yelled since.

So all of you peeps, go check your animal's claws tonight when you get home. *points stern fingers at everybody*

*smooches* again to everybody. *wipes tear from cheek*

Whew! I about spit my coffee out when I was reading this nice post and you then said "because she is a spawn of the devil" so matter of factly. :-)

I WILL go home & do that tonight. We need to bring all the cats to the vet. It's been too long.

Tell Michelle we think you are both excellent kitten parents.

Big sigh of relief. I have such a soft spot for this damn cat. I mean, I do for all of them but she was my first cat and I just worry all of the time about her. The first thing I do when I get home, after I put my stuff down is go up and make sure that she's still breathing. Can you imagine what kind of overbearing parent I would be to a human child. *rolls eyes*

And yes, she is a spawn of the devil. that doesn't stop me from loving every inch of her.

So glad that Shug will be ok *HUGS*

Glad you are sternly telling everyone to clip their pets' nails. It can be really bad.

We get all our pets' claws clipped on a regular basis. Lord knows I'd never be able to do the cats myself. Come to think of it, we probably couldn't do the dog's either. Whenever I bring him to the groomer's for his bath, they tell me he won't let them clip his nails. I end up taking him to the vets to have it done.

I hear ya on giving meds to the cats. We are currently giving Lady antibiotics because she had her teeth cleaned last week and had to have 3 teeth pulled. Thankfully it's a liquid. However, we still have to put full body armor on and the liquid doesn't always get in her mouth. It's actually funny because I have to give her two syringe doses. So, once the first one goes down, she knows what's coming, so she will clamp her mouth shut for the 2nd dose LOL.

Poor babies.

I started cutting my cats claws when she was little. The first few times it was awful. She screamed like a child being murdered.

After the first couple times, she was fine though.

We started giving all of them baths when they were babies. They get their little bath and then get wrapped in their little robes (okay, really a blanket) and then they get a blow dry. They do not like the blow dryer at all.
But we have never had to clip any of their nails before. Never. They all use the scratchers that we have placed around the house. *shrug* I guess that is going to change now.

If you think for one second that I am getting my cat to put her claws out on purpose, you've gone off the deep end. I'll take her demon ass to the vet and have them do it.

Glad Shug is alright and resting at home now.

I'm glad Shug is okay now, Carey!

My soon-to-be 20 y.o. cat can't sharpen her claws on the cat post anymore because, I dunno, she just doesn't flex well I guess. So she can't shed her nails naturally. My DD gives her regular baths in the kitchen sink because she has trouble grooming her whole body too. Her nails get clipped then.

If it takes 2 of you to hold Shug down, she must be in great shape for an older cat!

Hi Swami,
She is actually great at grooming herself. She is probably the cleanest of all 2 cats. I'm hoping that now that her claws have been clipped that maybe she will start to scratch again. Probably not but I will keep an eye on her.
I looked at her pads yesterday after she came home and I can't believe she wasn't in more pain. I was shocked to see the hole in her pads where her nails had grown into them.
Yep, she is in great shape for such an old girl. It even took two of the vets to hold her down when they clupped her.
We live in a two story house and that girl has no problem running down those stairs when she hears her food being poured into the dispenser. Funny how she is going deaf when I call her or when I yell at her for beating up on one of the other cats but has no problem hearing the food. Even cats have selective hearing.

I checked my cat's claws last night. I was going to suggest a cat scratcher thingy, but you said you already have one. I thought that would take care of the claws. I'll have to keep an eye on them.

Glad she's okay.

Last night I dreamt that my cat had to go to the vet because his paw was injured. I dreamt that they called me and said he died during the surgery of a heart attack. :( I was so broken up over it that I was actually crying in my sleep! But then he came home the next day so I guess the vet made a mistake. *shrug*
I was so happy to see him when I woke up this morning!

I'm glad that your baby survived her manicure/pedicure. That's what we call it.

We used to cut the cats' claws ourselves. We'd catch them sleeping, and cut a claw or two. Then they'd run away. The next day we'd do another claw or two. By the time we were done, it was time to start again.

Now that we have the new kitty, we take her monthly to the groomer at PetSmart and they cut the claws for $8.

Booboo kitty is back to her normal demon self today.

Heh, I kept telling her yesterday how lucky she was because she was the only one to get a pedicure.

Awwww, I feel bad MM. I didn't mean to give you bad dreams.

I didn't know that PetSmart had groomers. Hmmmm, I may give that a try.

Ooooh! Glad you got this taken care of and that it wasn't more serious. I know it had been bothering you. *kittynoseboops*

I cut both pets nails. With Thea, I trade a small treat for every nail she lets me cut. With Ryan, I pretty much do the same thing as Puffy. I catch him sleeping and can usually get through at least two-three paws before he's had enough. I just wait for him to fall back alseep to get the last paw done. I am lucky with both pets being really tolerant.

Wow! Things are much more expensive there. Vets here do it for $5 and it is worth it. Glad she's doing ok.

I wish that we could do the "clip when sleeping" thing. Unfortunately, nowadays when Shug is woken up from a sleep, she jumps and it freaks her out. I'm afraid of giving her a heart attack. LOL

Glad to hear your cat is OK. I checked the cats' claws and they seem fine. I have to clip the guniea pigs' nails periodically because they have no way of keeping their nails short in the cage.

Again: yay, Demoncat!
