Gmail

Anyone else have this?
I've just recently started to use my gmail account with a couple of people to see how I like it.
At first, me no likey. But the more that I use it, the more I like it. I may just completely switch to using just that account.
If anyone uses it, do you have any tips for me. any hidden secrets that will make it even more enjoyable for me?

I like that I seem to have almost unlimited storage space.
It keeps track of email conversations and keeps them contained into one email.
If I email someone, it automatically saves the email addy and builds my contact list without me having to do so.
I never have to delete emails. I can keep them archived and out of the way.
All kinds of neat little things.

So do you have a gmail account?

I have no idea what gmail is but I'm glad it's working out for you. I do like the feature of it automatically saving email addresses into your contact list.

It seems everyone I know has switched to gmail.

I feel so out of the loop, still utilizing yahoo! since the advent of webmail.

I tried signing up for a gmail account few months ago, but you need a cell phone to activate (at least last time I checked), which I do not have :(

The only bad thing at this point is that you can't really get a gmail account without an invite. My BIL sent me an invite and I signed up but just sort of let it sit there for awhile.
After having so many problems with my Yahoo account, I decided to start trying this out slowly.

Nooks, gmail is just another of those free email accounts. Instead of Yahoo or Hotmail it is brought to you by Google. It has some pretty cool features.

Meemo, if you don't have a cell phone, you can also become activated by having someone you know who has gmail, send you an invite.
Yahoo has been acting so poorly lately that I have to give up on it.

And welcome to my blog, you dapper man.

No, I don't have one. I like mine just fine. Except for when it sends your emails to spam. *rolls eyes*

Meems, I'd be happy to invite you. Or heck, any of us can. I love gmail. And not just because I own google stock. :) Google rules the world.

Debs, please tell me what you like and don't like. Because I don't yet know all of the features yet.

Momma, once I start using my gmail with everybody, it shouldn't send me to spam anymore. I think that is a glitch with my Yahoo account.

Sounds good. I agree with Nookie that the contact-list building all on its own would be great.

It really is, Coco. And it keeps things very organized which I like a lot. It doesn't create a new email everytime you go back and forth with someone. It puts a return email back into the original.

for instance, if Jen and I email back and forth 25 times, there will not be 25 new emails in my inbox and 25 emails in my outbox. It keeps it all contained within one email. I think this is one of my favorite things about.

It's like I have to have two of everything. I have 2 gmails, 2 yahoo emails, and 2 with my ISP account. And I'm not a ho, I'm a slut. *smooch*

I have a couple tips for you, however, they are not gartermail related. They are just everyday etiquette tips.

A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table...no matter how good his manners are.

That's better. I give it away, I don't charge. *smooch*

So I shouldn't have had Grandma stuffed and then placed her at the dinner for Christmas? It really was her favorite holiday and I wanted her to somehow be a part of it.

Blogger Jen said...

Actually, we emailed back and forth 33 times yesterday. Gmail tells me so. *grin*

I love that conversation feature. That rocks. I don't have to delete 60 emails at the end of the day anymore.

It is still not sending my Yahoo mail to it though. Did you set yours up last night?

5/04/2006 10:04 AM
Blogger Surveysez said...

I think it is really more appropriate to have Grandma at the dinner table first, and stuffed after dinner.

Blogger Bravie said...

I didn't, Jen. I read a lot of stuff but that entire mail forwarding part got me confused so I just decided against it.

Heh, the first year that Grandma died, my aunt (who is an artist) painted her urn and propped her up in front of the Christmas tree. Some people found it strange. I thought it was funny.

Personally? I kind of like the painfully, slow snail-mail like pace of Nookie's email provider.

OMH, I got an email once from Nookie that was almost a month old. It took that long to be delivered! *snort*

Nookie's emails on average take about two days to get to me.

You say slut like it's a bad thing. I thought that's what you liked about me. *pouts*

*snort* Yeah, monsty. You have to give me *chocolat*, but it has to be english chocolat, because it's rich and creamy, and much better than american chocolate.

I have a couple gmail accounts and I like using it. It does take some getting used to the interface, though.

I like the chat feature which is integrated into the email portion so that you can go easily into chat mode.

Plus, it archives your chat conversations as if they were email conversations. Also, if you send a smiley: :-) it rotates it ninety degrees! And the side ways: <3 also rotates to make a heart and turns light pink. It's very cute, although not as cute as the Yahoo smileys.

It's also very quick, updates every minute on its own, and the space is endless.

Atached pictures show up as thumbnails which can be nice too.

I also have a lot of invitations I can send to people if they want.

I would love a gmail invite! I just use the one account from my provider, which I like. I save any wanted emails into files on my hard drive.

The last time I tried to do something Yahoo Tom had an epileptic fit, convulsed most unattractively and almost bit his tongue off while ranting. Yahoo, it would seem, sucks (checks to see which blog she's in) the big fat hairy one.

I wonder what he would do if I sprung gmail on him?
