Sigh of relief

On Monday I talked to my friend Kimmy who lives in Mississippi. I talked to her prior to the hurricane hitting. At the time, the hurricane was set to hit new Orleans and she was not overly concerned about where she lives. She said that they were expecting winds of 70-90mph with gusts up to 135mph but they were otherwise pretty much prepared for a bad storm.
Well, then the Hurricane took a turn to the east and hit MS. She lives right above LA and she is not on the gulf coast, thank you God but they were hit. She lives about 100 miles southwest of Hattiesburg which was apparently hit badly.
I've been trying to get in touch with Kimmy ever since it hit and of course I haven't been able to get through. At first I wasn't too worried but as time has gone by and still no word from her I have started to worry. Even our "old gang" has been getting in touch wanting to know if I have heard from her. Colleen even tried calling Fed Ex in Hattiesburg (Kimmy works for Fed Ex, we weren't expecting her to be delivered in a package or anything) and they couldn't give any information.
So DUH!!!!! why haven't I called Kimmy's mom, who lives 15 miles from me? Why? Because I am blonde. *slaps forehead*
So I talked to Michele (Kimmy's mom) tonight and for the most part they are all okay. Kimmy lives there with her son (Josh) and her partner (Suzie) and a couple of dogs. I don't know their names. But if i know Kimmy, and I do, they have some ridiculous names. She had a dog when we were in high school and the dogs name was Fluffy. Fluffy? I would say. This dog has no fucking hair, it's allergic to fleas and has scabby black skin. It's the ugliest fucking dog I have ever seen in my life and in fact I hesitate to call it a dog. And she named it Fluffy. *snort* If I could get Mikki D to come back and post, she would verify this story.
Oh hell, I got off topic, Kimmy doing okay.
They lost their roof and FEMA came out today and put a tarp over the top. Their walls are saturated with water, they have no power, no gas and no water. No water except for what was in the pool. None of the neighbors have any working facilities (if ya know what I mean) and Kimmy has the only working toilet on the block. They have to fill the tank with the pool water in order to flush but at least the block has a toilet. Kimmy's. Hah, I don't know why I find this funny.
The town is pretty much closed down and the roads are almost un usable. BUT, Kimmy is going to be able to drive out to the city tomorrow to get some groceries and stuff. That's all I know for now and her Mom is going to keep me updated.
But I know this. Kimmy and I used to rival each other for who had the better survival kit. (I still think mine is better) so I know that she was as prepared as one can be for this. And if i know Kimmy, she is probably taking care of half the town and will probably proclaim herself mayor by mid next week.
I will sleep better tonight.

Nice long weekend

After a week+ of hell, I get to enjoy a relaxing weekend. We're headed up to the lake for the weekend. Michelle's brother and his girlfriend are going up with us and Michelle's many cousins, aunts and uncles will be up there too. We're putting the jetskiis in Saturday morning too. Woo Hoo. We both agreed that we need a nice, long, relaxing, party weekend. It's going to be good to get away from the world for a few days.

All hell has broken loose

All hell has broken loose in my house today. As most of you know we are having tile work done on our downstairs. And as you know, tile boy is not the most reliable. yesterday after showing up 4 hours late, he was here until almost midnight last night. Today, so far he is an hour and a half late. We are growing increasingly stir crazy stuck upstairs. The TV downstairs is blocked by the oven and the there is nowhere to sit because of the pinball machine, the china cabinet and all of the boxes taking up most of the space. So here we are stuck upstairs with not much to do.
Today I am spring cleaning. the full toothbrush on the bathroom floor kind of spring cleaning.
This morning, Michelle's brother called to say that he and his GF were stopping by to see what has been done to the floors. Ok, fine, they stayed for about half an hour and then left. We aren't set up to host any company or anything. So last night, Michelle's Dad called and said that he and her Mom were going to come by today to see the progress. Not a bad idea. Al is a handy guy and on top of that he could make sure that everything is being done properly. Well now he just called and told us that he decided to bring our niece and nephew also. WTF? They are 9 and 11 years old. We have tools all over, brken tiles, dust everywhere, the kitchen appliances in the living room, room for three uncomfortably in the living room, power cords everywhere, saws, grout, nails, you name it, lying around and he decides he wants to take the kids for a ride to come see us.
Now remember, I look like a maid (not a french one either) with cleaner all over the place, the fucking tile guy is STILL not here and he springs this on us. Holy Mary mother of Jesus did all hell just break loose. Michelle went off on her Dad then went off on me, then I went off on her and then yelled shit about WTF is her Dad thinking. Things are not pretty in our house today. Not pretty at all.
I just lost my temper and told Michelle that this is bullshit and that her nice way of dealing with things is not getting us anywhere and that when Rudy gets here that I am finally going to deal with him the way that I choose. Well, surprise, this created another fight between us because she wants to continue dealing with him in a less than stern manner. I have just about reached the end of my rope.
Life just keeps getting better. *sigh*

*Rolls eyes*

Fine. I will update my blog. But I have nothing important to say.
I drank too much last night and I now have a headache and a bit of a belly ache.
My freaking tile guy better show up today. I'm sick of my floors being all cold and bare. brrrr.

I had fun partying last night. I got to hang out with Ken and Tammy and Gigi and Monica and Emma and Gina and Motto. Motto is this big Mexican dude who looks like George Lopez. I actually call him Georgelopez. All one word. "Can I get you a beer Georgelopez"
He calls me Blondewhitegirl.

Um........that's really all for now. I have otherwise been rather cranky and bitchy the past few days. More than normal. so I don't have much to post.

Oh, two other things.
Yesterday afternoon I made a pot of rice. Today it is missing. I wonder if I ate it when I was drunk last night.

and, do you believe in ghosts? Because I swear to you that yesterday when I was in the shower a ghost pinched me on my ass. It scared the hell out of me. I turned around and nobody else was in the shower. My hands were on my head washing my hair so I know that I did not pinch my own ass. Today? no ass pinching ghost.

Remind me

When I am bitching and complaining this week about not being able to button my pants that I should stay away from Carni food. *burp*. Michelle was forcing me to drink the 24oz beers. Forcing me I tell ya. And she forced me to eat the tri-tip meal and the shrimp cocktail and the fried twinkie and the funnel cake. As if that wasn't enough, I talked to Breezy and she told me to have a corndog for her. I didn't want to, but I am a woman of my word. Thank goodness Glowie didn't ask me to eat anything for her too. I'm not going to mention the fudge nor will I mention the cinammon covered almonds nor will I mention the pizza that we had to have with dinner because we were watching football. My belly still hurts. Michelle even dipped into my bottle of Tums last night. And she didn't eat nearly as much as I did. She didn't have the shrimp or the twinkie or the corndog.
I almost bungee jumped. Almost. We were going to call everyone programmed in my phone and take a poll (yes, there was a buzz involved) but Michelle suggested that I wait until we go to Vegas in November. She said it would be a better experience if there were more people around. Of course, I am sure she will have a new excuse once we are in Vegas. That and I haven't turned in the paper work for my third life insurance yet. She is the full beneficiary and I'm sure she wants to make sure that all that paperwork is processed before I go leaping off tall buildings.
Today is about laundry, finishing clearing out the china cabinet so that it can be moved tomorrow when the tile dudes come. And tonight another funeral(actually a Rosary). This is number five for the year.

The Joy that is Glow

I was going to wait to do this but I am doing it now.

Every now and again I am going to show my love for a friend here in my blog:
It's too easy to take friends for granted and forget to tell them how you feel.

Glow has been one of the best friends I have ever made. Here in the box and IRL. Some of you know what she has to put up with having me as a friend and some of you really don't know.
She listens to me piss and moan and cry and rant and rave. She has put up with me taking out my anger and aggression and a lot of the time on her. She has been patient and understanding and loving and caring.
Gloria and I do every once in awhile go through some rough times together and with each other. We fight like sisters, we bitch at each other as if we really are family. I call her my sister, proudly. But one thing I can always count on is Gloria. She knows when it is one of those times to tuck away our problems because I truly need her. We never let our silly or not so silly arguments get in the way when the other one needs the other.
I have been through extreme emotional highs and lows since I have met Gloria and she has stood by me each step of the way.
Gloria is family to me. I love her and couldn't love her more if she was my blood sister.
So tell me how much you love Glow.

Don't pee yourself

Over the excitement of this news. Our fucking floors are finally going to be put in. We have had the tile in our garage for many many months. Michelle is getting a tile guy through her work to do this on the side so we are getting it at half price. Still not cheap. *gasp* $5.00 a square foot to install, not including the cost of the tile. Yikes. We got about 350 square feet to put in. Once the tile is down then we are going to recarpet the rest of the house. The carpet is free since Michelle owns a carpet store but we will probably have to pay someone to install it. But we are finally getting the tile done. I am so glad about this. After the floors, the kitchen cabinets get done. We decided to buy new cabinet doors instead of having the old ones redone. We found some really cool doors at an artshow last weekend. A real light wood frame with frosted glass in the middle. Very cool.
We found out that we can't sell the house though for another year+. We got what is called an MCC certificate when we bought the house. Because we were first time home buyers. This MCC thingy gives us a 15% rebate on our taxes every year. BUT, we have to keep the house for 9 years or else we have to repay some of that money. It's not worth the penalty so we are stuck here until at least November of 2006. Then we are out of here. I hope.
Just got the high and low fair market value of our house. Now understand, this is not about bragging, this is about educating you all on the ridiculous prices of homes in the bay area.
Low market $610,000 and high market $627,000. We live in a Townhouse. Not a house with a yard and shit. A Townhouse. 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 1 car garage plus a one car attached carport. 1550 square feet. This is no mansion. We don't even live in what I would call a desirable city. My house is in no way NO WAY worth what the FMV says it is.
I had coffee, I rambled a little more than I had planned.
Again, don't pee yourself over the excitement of this post. Carry on.

Nothing to talk about

I'm sick of looking at my old post but I have nothing new to talk about.
I am PMSing, a little cranky and suddenly my stress has started to return.
Amuse me please.

ETA: I have a damn project at work today that I don't want to deal with. Can someone come and go through my hazardous waste manifests and make sure they are in order. And can you also put together the list of chemicals that we store on site. Thank you in advance.

I know you don't care

But this may be the only time this year that I get to post this. The 49ers won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It may only be preseason and it may have been against a 2nd a 3rd string team, but they won. Most importantly, it was against the Raiders. My most hated team ever. I despise the Raiders in epic proportions.Thugs.
I had two invites to the game. One from a Niner fan and one from a Raider fan. Truthfully, going with Johnny the Raider fan would have been more fun. Other than the Raider/Niner thing, I adore Johnny. He is a fun guy. I have a picture of him in a dress from a bet that we had a few years back over a football game. Whoever lost, had to wear a dress to work the next day. By the grace of God and a last minute field goal, the Niners won and Johnny had to wear a dress.
For the record, there is nothing girlie about John. He is a straight man, a hairy man, a beer bellied man, a Raider fan. He was not pretty in the dress. Did I mention that Johhny and I work together and that he had to wear the dress to work? If this weren't a public blog, I would post the picture. Hmmm, maybe I will ask him on Monday. Because it is a picture worth seeing even if you don't know him.
Anyhow, my team didn't look great yesterday although the defense seemed to look half way decent. And, the offensive line was our secondary team so I can't really tear into them yet. My rookie QB did not look wonderful *sigh*. Our offense gained more yards in penalties than it did in actual earned yards while he was in. But it was his maiden voyage, so we will see.
So, it's probably the only win that we will have this season but for now, I am happy.

I'm bored

The two truths and a lie thread will inspire this one. All but one are the truth.

In high school I broke my finger by closing it in a car door. One week after it healed, I broke it again. The same way.

I got kicked out of the El Dorado casino in Reno when I was 21 for being too drunk.

I own 414 CD's and 233 DVD's.

I took acid and went to a Grateful Dead concert.

I once dated a fireman. We met when two friends and I jumped in front of his firetruck as it was slowly coming around the corner by my friend's house.

I once had a crush on a woman who was 5'1", weighed over 300 lbs and was into S&M.

I have slept with more men than I have women.

I dated an exotic dancer who went my the nickname of Gumby. *grin*

I have a foot fetish.

Hair, if not attached to the body, freaks me out. I can't touch it.

I once barfed on a guy when he leaned into the car window to kiss me.

I have less self esteem and confidence than the Elephant Man. (and he's dead)

I got pissed off one time because I thought a hotel had locked me out of my room. When I returned to my room from the front desk there was a security person standing at my room. It was not the room I had been trying to get into prior to calling security.

When I was 12 I pulled a t-shirt over my bathing suit when I was done swimming. I then took off the bathing suit top. When I went back to swim I had forgotten that I took off my bathing suit. So when I took off the t-shirt I was standing there nekkid on top. No, puberty was not fun for me.

I didn't know I was gay until I met Michelle.

Happy Birthday Michelle

It's not as if she is going to read this. I highly doubt that checking my blog is on the agenda for her birthday. But just in case.
We had the BBQ at her parents yesterday and I think I am taking her up to the city for dinner tonight.
She's old today. I think I'll tell her so. *grin*

Boiling Nipples

Per Dweeze's request. I want to please the audience. So today's title is "Boiling Nipples"

Now GO!!!

Boring updates

Monsty said I could update but I don't have much to say. It's been a boring, well, not boring, but it hasn't been a fun week.

The Father of one of our best friends died this week and we have been involved in helping with arrangements.

My brother is leaving today to move to Boston.

We had a shake up at work. One of our main peeps got layed off. They said it was due to us being slow. I am pretty sure that I am safe as I am the only person trained in our health and safety department. But this means more work, same pay.

I have to go to a Rosary tonight and a funeral tomorrow.

Sunday we are going to Michelle's parents house for a BBQ. Monday is her birthday and her Dad's was this past Monday and her brother's is tomorrow. So it is a big family birthday BBQ.

No matter what Michelle may say, she will be 38 years old. She will try to tell people that she is 31 or 32 and if she is feeling real bold she will say she is turning 35. *rolls eyes*

I think that's it for now.
